Cell layout is another layout design which involves that the requirements which are to be moved from one place to another are to be selected initially and there will be movement only between them and not others. With this, the transforming requirements for all the processes will be met. In such kind of layout the resources which are to be transformed are moved to the allocated cell without disturbing the other cells. Thus, cell layout is an attempt to make sure that the complexity of the functional layout is met in a proper manner.

The examples of cell layout may include the same assembly for the laptops, the products which are related to the lunch items, or in the maternity units in a hospital. Though the concept of cell layout of generally used in the manufacturing sectors, some of the hotels also uses this kind of layout in hotels and restaurant. For example, in the ground floor of the hotels there is just a lobby. But in order to show the customers, they have also kept some rooms in the ground floor. They have been located in the cell because they are similar products and are needed to be so as to ensure that the customers get the best availability to the rooms (Ismail,2002). The customers can get a better access to the facilities in the cell management. Though there are some negatives of such a layout. For example, there will be the loss of the room which has been kept as the sample just for customer’s lookup and they will not be able to earn revenue from that specific room. Instead, they will be able to highlight and ascertain that the rooms are able to satisfy the customers in the very first sight.
