Northup and his fellow slaves accommodated and resisted slavery throughout the narrative

Solomon went into captivity after he had been offered a lucrative job in circus in Washington D.C. and on one unfortunate day he found himself alone and chained in darkness. He became a slave of James H. Burch who was a brutal slave trader. Solomon when protested his slavery for asserting his freedom he was beaten brutally and was threatened of being killed if he ever demands for his freedom again. He found the situation of slaves like him hopeless. When Tibeats threatens to whip him, Northup refused him from being whipped. Instead with the help of a white man from Canada about his abduction. This man wrote letters from behalf of Northup to get him freed from slavery.

One of the other slaves in the book i.e. Patsy who was killed by Northup on her request for getting her liberate from her slavery. Lastly, it was also shown in the book that Northup got his freedom back with the efforts made by a white man and his support. He was the man who went to courts at times when black people cannot testify themselves against whites (Northup, 2012),  through small acts of rebel or resistance slaves such as sabotage through breaking tools and even setting buildings on fire. The other way to albeit indirectly to the slave owner was through striking out at the property of the slave owner for making the strike at the owner.  Slaves at times try to decrease their pace of work whenever it was possible for them to do so. Women slaves sometimes used their positions of working in households for undermining their masters.
