Japanese Automobile manufacturers achieved a competitive position that was not easily imitable and then maintained the competitive positioning in international markets. To understand the making of this competitive standpoint, it is necessary to understand the chronology of its making. Japanese firms have been applauded for their manufacturing efficiency from as early as the 1980s. The physical productivity of Toyota was seen to set the standards for most international plants and operations (Cusumano, 1998). High productivity was achieved by means of process efficiency and rapid inventory turnover. In addition to the good practices that were observed by the company, the innovations in production management were one of the main reasons that Japanese automobile manufacturing was able to move ahead competitively (Herrons & Hicks, 2008). Innovations are usually original practices or the improvements that are made on some original practices. In the case of the production styles of Japan, one of the initial criticisms were that Japanese copied automobile manufacturing from the techniques of the United States.

However, this was not true. When the US manufacturing entities suffered from productivity and performance issues the Japanese firms that were established in Tennessee, Ohio and California were seen to have higher quality and productivity than any other. Neither did the Japanese automakers copy the works of European production and management. In house experimentation in the 1930s and the 1950s of Nissan and Mitsubishi was seen to help bring this competitive advantage. To a certain extent the Nissan and Mitsubishi models were built on conventional ones. However, post war producers such as Toyota was seen to avoid copying the techniques that many others of the international market relied on. Tailoring an efficient production system that will suit their beliefs seemed to be core to Toyota’s innovation management (Cusumano, 2013).

它是ESOL(英语为其他语言的人)和EFL(英语为外语)。 (Gass & Selinker, 2008)。

Students around the world learn English as a second language. It has become imperative for students to learn English. This has resulted in the need to analyze the importance of second language acquisition methods. In the case of second language acquisition it has been observed that there are two types of situation. It is ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) and EFL (English as a foreign language). The former is connected with learning English where the individual mother tongue is not English. Nevertheless, a majority of the people around them speak English. In the second situation English is learnt as a foreign language where majority of the people do not speak in English (Gass &Selinker, 2008).It is interesting to note that even though English is learnt as a second language in both these situation, the outcomes differ. (Gass & Selinker, 2008). There is a belief among students that English is learnt easily in societies where most of the people speak English (Shu & Zhuang, 1994). This research aims to conduct a comparative analysis between ESOL and EFL. From this best practices are determined for second language acquisition.

The First String Quartet by American composer Elliott Carter was his first major breakthrough work as a composer. Elliot used metric modulation in his piece of work for which he became famous. Earlier, Stravinsky used this device in 1920; however, Carter was the first to develop such transformation in work. In this, Carter changed the modulation from tonality to temp in contrast to structural role of the earlier composers. The masterpiece comprises of four movements in three sections contained in a virtual solo passage. The passage has bookends at the end of each quartet for two cadenzas. The first bookend is dedicated to cello while violin concludes the other end. Use of violin was extraordinary by Elliott in 1950 when traditional music was still prevalent, even though there were signs that modern music was in the initial stages of development. The masterpiece had expressive characters, each of whom drawed inference and linkage with each other. Moreover, the use of interrupted slow motion was the key highlight of the work. Elliot did not hesitate to take chances of using slow motion movements in work, even though the fast and furious movements were particularly popular among audiences in those days.

The disintegration of chimneys in mid air with collapse on the ground was stunning and quite contrary to traditional works. The use of violin at the end slowed the work and looked like a long stretch rather than dream time. The movements between four sections were not differentiated by pauses and potential reasons for dislike among audiences. Elliot endorses the fact that movements were Fantasia, Allegro scorrevole, Adagio, and Variations. He opines that pauses were in the middle and near starting of variations. He used two pauses in three sections due to unusual movement of division, tempo and character change. The use of pitch classes by Carter was a harmonic procedure and rare use of vertical pitch space in those times. Elliot used recurring central sounds from different set of pitch materials. Quartet based on an “all-interval” four-note chord was used in harmonic frame in the work for bonding musical tones and maintaining continuity. Moreover, the uses of both simultaneous and successive speeds in the work were quite uncommon in those times.
