Chandler has also observed that now multi-unit businesses that exist are seeing a higher and greater volume of economic activity in them as there is a better coordination process that has taken place which is more efficient and superior to the market coordination that used to take place (Drury, 2008). Due to this new method of coordination, the managerial hierarchy becomes the strength of the company as it can be used as a source of growth and power for the new organization. There is also a move towards efficiency from the managers who become more efficient and effective in their capacities. There is also a move towards specialization as the owners and the managers are getting further and further separated while their functions are getting more defined. Chandler has stated that as the company becomes more coordinated administratively, they become more efficient and their structure is more adaptive to become a multi-unit business.
