This was an event that needed both full time workers, temp and volunteers. The companies would present their products, the product differentiations, product diversity, and more information for people to come in and learn, to question and to understand both the products and the process better. An exhibition organized so that companies in a specific industry can showcase and demonstrate their latest products and services, a meet with industry partners and customers, study activities of rivals, and examine recent market trends and opportunities, hence needed to make use of a substantial human task force (Armstrong, and Taylor, 2014, Van der Wagen, 2014).
The form of motivational strategy that would work easy with volunteers is one where volunteer selection is done based on the volunteer interest to work in a coffee expo. Now the human resource management practice here was simplified because each of the companies participating in the event managed to bring in their own work forces as well to the event. The setting up of booths was simplified as well as most of the participating companies had ideas on how to set up their booths and most of them are customized according to their needs. Also media partners such as that of BeanScene magazine and other sponsors made available a wide range of coupons and other promo benefits for the people in the expo (BeanScene, 2013), from the volunteers to the participants. These worked as ancillary motivational tactics (Shone & Parry, 2004).
Prime Media which is the event manager and organizer brought its expert task force to the facilities as well. The event as such is a very comprehensive one and from first perspective what appears to be a trade expo, is more than just that. In this context, a recommendation that could be made is that the trade expo makes use of events divided over two batches instead of a continuous set of days. Although this would mean more booking and related charges, the event could be completed in a more satisfactory sense. Furthermore, the event happening over three continuous days might result in lack of interest but by dividing it as two segments over say a week or two could result in a more sustained interest.
