& Meltz,2000)。

Canada and U.S. are the two developed nations of the world where there are a large number of paid workers. But, there is a vast difference in the union density of the two countries. On one hand, the union density of Canada is 29 percent; U.S. has the union density of 14 % only. This clearly states that U.S. is more ionized in comparison to Canada. Another difference is the structure of the industry. In US, it is far more ionized in a number of sectors such as the manufacturing in comparison to Canada. U.S. and Canada also has a different legal regime due to which there is a difference in the unionization which creates a difference in the Union Density. Difference in the degree of opposition from the management is a major reason for the difference in the union densities of the two nations. Both the nations have different types of public attitude and the values (Frege& Kelly, 2003). The proportion of workers in Canada is lower than U.S. Another difference in the union density is that the proportion of the black workers in U.S. is comparatively higher than the ones in Canada. A yet another difference in the Union of the two countries is that in USA the union members consists of more youths than in Canada. Another important thing to note in this case is the unionism in the public sector and private sector. While in Canada the Public sector unionism is 40 % higher than the one in Private Sector, in U.S. it is only 30 % higher. Difference in the occupational composition of the workshop is another method which influence the unions and it may be another important difference which affect the union density in the two countries (Upset, S. M., & Meltz, 2000).
