The Reasons of Air Pollution in Beijing
Air Pollution is a problem that has covered whole China. Air pollution has severely damaged the natural environment of Beijing. However, Beijing and its region are among the most severely exposed Areas of air pollution. The air quality of Beijing has become the international headlines of air pollution’s chart measurement. The below image demonstrate that how the capital cities of China have been shrouded and districts of Beijing have crossed the hazardous level and the PM i.e. particulate matter has reached to 2.5 (Hsu & Miao, 2013). The air pollution is more dominant in the regional areas rather than the inner side of the city. Many sources are responsible for the pollution; the main reasons are discussed below:
Industrial Pollution and Production of Energy:
Rapid Industrialization and heavy dependency on coal power worsened more the air quality in Beijing (Parson, 2013) The Beijing also gets its electricity from the coal plants. Though, such plants are being removed from the inner city, as per the guidelines of the Ministry of the environment. The source of worsening city’s air pollution and deteriorating air quality region wise is interlinked with Beijing and its surrounding cities over-reliance on coal consumption also. Controlling PM2.5 pollution must start with replacing urban coal consumption with clean and new alternative energy sources, effective measures for controlling the regional total coal consumption, as well as managing and treating of pollutants from coal combustion.
