Now the diverse community and the underrepresented community (Smithsonian Institution, 2001) will have better museum access. The museum collections will be involved in the discussions and will be used my museum and the community as catalysts for discussions. Furthermore the museum will also encourage individuals to come and talk about their needs with respect to a museum. Munro (2014) conducted an ethnographic study of Glasgow Museums to understand how a community engagement project called the ‘Curious’ was creating social inclusion. This community program trained volunteers and museum staff to work with cultural diversity and underrepresented audiences (Munro, 2014).

    Barnsley: The Barnsley museum is in the United Kingdom and is operated by the Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. A community engagement program in order to attract diverse sects of people was organized by Barnsley in 2008. A major new museum was being created supported by a social inclusion plan. Experience Barnsley worked with various categories of audience for the museum. They also worked with small history organizations, heritage organizations and other local centres. Before, the Museum had very little local collection in its entire collections. When the Museum started developing in 2008, the museum held as much as thirty road shows to interact with the local community. The local community were brought into the museum collections and galleria arrangement process. They contributed objects that they owned which they though had a local history or was an interesting artefact in general. The museum worked with the people and borrowed the collections that it wanted to showcase in the museum. The Museum also made a detailed list of those objects that the people had at present and that which the museum might borrow for the future.
