In contemporary times architectural styles, designs, motifs and more have improved in order to accommodate various demands placed by the owners. This dissertation attempts to answer the question of whether it is human intelligence or art that has made architecture more refined in contemporary times.

The connection of art and architecture is one that has been existent from since when men started to build. There have been various styles of architecture that take its name after the art period that it developed in. In current times too, the connection of such art movement like the minimalist movement are seen to be influencing the architectural movement. The human intelligence factors as in the techniques being employed in architecture and also the different methods of architectural design automation, mechanistic production and more are arguments made on the human intelligence factor.

In answering for how there could be a composition of both art and human intelligence in architecture, the dissertation employs four different case studies. For the art influencing architecture perspective, the works of Gaudi and Morris are used and in the case of the Human intelligence perspective, the works of Le Corbusier and the building of Bauhaus are used. A comparative analysis of both the case studies reveal that art and human intelligence are both influential on architecture.
