Structural changes are those changes made to the organization’s structure that might stem from internal or external factors and typically affect how the company is run. This work aims to understand the form of structural change that is present at a higher level, as applicable to all organizations (Ahmed et al., 2016). Organizational structural changes happen because of strategic changes in organization. Usually, organizational structural change would be a large change for the organization, and can be differentiated from the short term strategic changes because of the long-term impact it has on an organization (Angwin et al., 2016). For instance, implementing a new marketing policy will not require an organizational change as it is part of the usual working of the organization. Alternatively, when an organization decides to absorb a department as part of another (as in merging two departments), then it could be said that it is a major organizational structure change.
