Buddhism which is one of the major religions of the world was first started in India. This was introduced in the sixth century, B.C. The Buddhism reached every corner of the Central and Southeast Asia, China, Japan and Korea. In the present time we can find people following Buddhism across the globe. It is considered to be non-theistic religion which involves a plethora of traditions, beliefs and practices which is mostly based on the teaching of the founder of this religion Shakyamuni or Buddha. Buddhism is basically divided into two parts Theravada and Mahayana. Theravada means school of elders and Mahayana means the great vehicle. The Buddha literally means the “Enlightened One” (Conze, 1951). There are different views to this religion from people pertaining to different parts of the world. In the west, Buddhism has grown a lot of interest and sympathy. There are many people in the west who either follow Buddhism or have a sympathetic attitude towards it. In Europe, Buddhism is considered to be an advanced and sophisticated religion (Gethin, 1998).
