This book has been concluded by Stiglitz with a recipe regarding agenda of reform that cover both, reforms of politics and policy of economy that could result in making the system highly efficient, generating jobs, and addressing the issues related to inequality (Stiglitz, 102). It has been contended by him that there is possibility of better system given that the important reforms are undertaken within this duration of time. In concluding this point, he has been more pessimistic regarding the process of politics and ability of America for undertaking the important reforms as the moneyed and powerful have the resources and incentive for fighting against it. The issues related to inequality are indeed highly complicated and contentious for being addressed in an exhaustive manner within this particular book.
Establishing empirical and theoretical evidence for testing the hypothesis has been done as there is initiation of growth in income at the top most level at the cost of poor households and middle income has still been contentious in nature. It has been argued by the book from the perspective of political economy how policies of government and measures of deregulation marginalized the interests held by the families of low income and middle income (Stiglitz, 98). Emphasis has been laid in the books that forces of market operate in an environment of socio- politics and the result is affected by the failure or effectiveness of government policies for bringing about an equitable and robust system of economy. The morale obtained from this argument is that to address the issues of inequality in a sustainable way that needs to reform the forces of politics and policies of government that initiate a rise and helps in sustaining them in a significant manner.
