Newburgh is a small city situated in New York at Orange County in the United States of America alongside with the Hudson River. The settlement of the area had been done in the early years of 18th century by the British and the Germans. Ever since then, the organization has been focusing to develop and change the town considering its capability to compete in the globe market. Newburgh has been considered as a metropolitan city that includes all of the Orange counties and the Dutchess Counties. It has been a city with a number of distinctions. The first power plant had been established by Edison at this place and hence, this city had been the first city of America for being electrified (Barrett, 2000). In the year of 1915, it had been the first city of America for the delegation of routine authority by the government to the manager of the city. The city had also been first city in the entire nation for fluoridating the water. Even though the city is the home of several technological and other developmental activities, the city stays focused on the preservation of its eco-system.
Recently, there has been a new plan drafted for the development of a shopping mall in the city. However, implementation of this plan, there is a need for approval from the planning board that will be considering the impact of this development on the economy and ecology of the city. Hence, this essay shall be presenting the economic and the ecological impact of mall development in Newburgh.
