The helicopter cuts across the scene with its loud noise disturbing the peaceful jungle in the opening scene. The trees respond heavily to the wind while further smoke starts to cover up the scene, more number of helicopters can be heard in the scene. As these sounds start to get louder, the complexity increases with increased thickness of the smoke. Soon after a number of helicopters hover across the screen and there is fire everywhere in the forest until the forest disappears. The entire atmosphere can be seen as dreamlike and surreal, yet peaceful, until the entire Jungle experiences explosion in dramatic oranges and reds, detonating napalm. The peaceful forest turns into a warzone of hell and “The End” song begins to play in the background. The scene then fades away to an overhead ceiling fan and Willard is shown lying in his room. All the fire is shown as what Willard is thinking and the sound of ceiling fan can be related with the sound of the helicopter.

As the scene progresses, Willard looked outside the window, showing an expression of boredom and the sound of the city can be heard from the window. As he looks outside the window, he says, “Saigon. Shit… Still Saigon” as the music of marching band can be heard through the window.
