In several ways, I do gender too and I feel accountable for it all the time. Same goes for Miller. She is accountable for her actions as well. In western cultures mostly, doing gender is not considered as an innate quality individuals rather as an ingrained social structure which is based on human interaction. This idea of doing gender was criticized by many scholars who do not consider human acts and agency into account. In an attempt to figure out the idea of change, one should ponder upon his or her gender and roles and responsibilities according to gender. Accountability comes with living in a society or culture. If one as to live in a desert or jungle, however way he lives is not an issue but society asks for certain criterion of living (Fenstermaker, 2002).

In looking at gender as an achievement, its core essence is changed from intrinsic features and traits to something that depends on social contexts and interactions. Gender is also a consequence of the institutionalized assets of society which restrict an individual to do gender, but people only do gender in real or imaginary presence of other people. If people do not restrict themselves as males or as females, then they will act in a totally different manner than if they do (Zimmerman, 2006).
