The study has shown that for the survivors of the famine of 1959-1961 it caused serious economic and health impacts. This was true especially for the people who were in their early period of their life throughout the famine. In the absence of the famine, this study has revealed that the individuals might have developed 3.03 cm taller who were born in the year 1959. The height reduction is true to be for the individuals with shorter heights as per the quantile regression analysis conducted in the study. With famine contact throughout their early days, the famine also significantly affected the earning and labour supply of the survivors.

One can easily see that the study contributes to proper understanding of the worst famine’s long-term impacts. It has been the sphere of the demographers, historians and medical researchers about the evaluation of the long run impacts of famine in the long term. Moreover, it has also obtained some focus in the region of economics (Peng, 1987). A serious analysis of econometrics has been conducted in this study and the impacts of the famines are obtained with more reliable estimates.

There are several challenges which have been faced in this study of how to construct up a fundamental connection amongst the impacts of the famine and the famine itself. Natural experiment which formulates an exogenous disparity in the exposure of the famine is to tackle the problem of causality. Regions to assemble a difference-in-differences estimator and variations in impacts of famine across cohorts are the two main bases of variations in the contact of famine which are utilized in this study.
