Why did New Urbanism emerge? (Reactions to some other ideas of Urbanism?)
Modern urbanism is an innovative way to create and develop ideas that raise a more upright plan of architecture that controls a range of housing and residential projects. It emerged as one of the popular designs in the year 1980, in United States, as and when the design spread across gradually many aspects of modern art and real estate developer. The term New Urbanism was influenced by the urban design, which was planned as the best design until middle of the twentieth century. The idea incorporated the conventional ways of designing residential spaces and development related to transportation infrastructure. The plan proposed by the architects focused on linguistic feature, minimalism, environmentally favorable and the wider concept of the boundary line which was addressed as a smart growth. Highest priority Walk able design, mixture of uses in close proximity, better transit systems, good parking system and others were the accessories of new urbanism and stability.
People didn’t like the rebuilding the old structure neither they liked the design of close house. Some of the innovative features like wide sidewalks, skinny alleys and boulevards, open verandahs, behind the house car parking, city plazas and commercial arcade neighborhoods caught the fancy of people. But existing communities believed that these designs would misguide the community and might bring huge loss.
